Hey folks,
I’ve been presenting lectures on residential construction lately to new homebuyers with little or no construction knowledge. Been using a Power Point presentation with “stuff” for show and tell (rebar, Simpson connectors, etc) but was thinking about building a few small mockups for real world models.
Any thoughts about what items might be good to build? I thought about a typical framed wall segment (reduced in height obviously).
Any other thoughts?
Thanks
Mike

I'd build that mockup as the top of a wall, and include the roof construction as well- rafters, shingles, venting, soffit, etc. You'll kill two birds with one stone then- roof and wall.
I'd be interested to learn more about the seminars you're presenting- who for, cost, etc. Feel free to email me privately if you'd prefer. [email protected]

Go to http://www.hearlihy.com/CatReq.asp?cat=all and request a catalog. They have education supplies for home building and home design. In the catalog they even have scaled down lumber so that you could build a whole house, say at 1/2" scale for example. I use their supplies to build a physical 3d model for my clients if they request them.
