   I think there have been a couple of discussions of estimating software, but I think the emphasis was on professional rather than homeowner. You should find something with a search, however. One thread that did discuss low end software with estimating capability was:

   *There's estimating software that comes with the National Estimator series of books from Craftsman Book Company. The books are about $40 each for the current edition, but they change every year, and Builder's Bookstore in Canoga Park, CA, sells the leftovers of last year's for much less, IIRC about $10 each. You can customize their tables with your actual costs.-- J.S.
