I thought one of the best thread in the photo gallery last year was the one Wrecked Angle started last year about construction kids. So I figured I’d start one this year. Maybe it’s a little early, but I had a couple of pics and figured what the heck.
I’ve attached 3 –
The one called “Loading Rock” shows Carl laoding gravel into my old dump truck with a skid steer loader. He really likes that thing.
The next one called “Mowing Grass” shows him mowing grass in a meadow out at the farm. He’s driving the tractor I learned to drive on when I was a kid.
The last one is called “Driving Home from the Farm”. He’s too short for the visor to block the late afternoon sun, so I stuck my hat on him. He just turned 14 – Obviously too young to drive legally. But I let him drive some out in the country.
Looking forward to seing what y’all come up with…
Don’t let your mind wander. It’s too little to be left alone.

Nice shots of Carl, there, Boss. He looks like he's turning into quite a young man.
Sorry I don't have any recent pictures; I think you understand why.But here's a shot of my little champ loading in the firewood last fall wearing his cowboy boots and the jean-jacket vest he's been just aching to grow into for two years now.

This little guy is concentrating on some easier stuff. I think he needs a D mix lesson but I don't know what size coffee to order for him.

So who is that? Grandson, or what?
You say "psycho" like it's a bad thing.
Boss, that's my first grandson, Skylar. He's four. Thanks for asking. He was helping Daddy do some painting and drywall repairs in that picture. He loves tools!

Doesn't look like anybody else is gonna post pics of their kids/grandkids. So I'm gonna post another one. This one is my youngest Son helping build a grain bin for a friend of the family. I stopped by today at 4:00 and took this pic before he knew I was there. He had been there all day working in 90° heat. I asked him if he was ready to go home, and he said "no".Did I ever mention that I'm proud of this kid ???(-:

Had to add these after taking them the other day. The girls wanted to help cleanup the floor before we put the new one down. One was scraping the other vacuuming. Don't worry I tested it for lead. Neither one really likes the noise from the vacuum but the older one got the headphones first. They did a great job.
Thanks fer posting the pics. I was afraid this thread had died off, since one one had posted anything lately. Keep at it - Always glad to see more.

You got some great looking kids there.Enjoy, the'll be grown before you know it.
Where do you get that padded flooring?
Ive had my eye open for it and havent seen it in awhile.
thanks
It's relatively old (about 3 years) and we got it at Home depot. I did see it the other day in BJ's while I was in there. Good luck
Check at local auto parts stores. That's where I got mine.
Grandkids gonna be over tomorrow, will see if I can get some pix of them running the backhoe. The 3 YO can get a pretty decent hole dug for that age.
My kids are grown now, but these shots were taken when the girls were still in high school and Todd was home for the summer from college. That's the missus lending a hand, too.
Nothing better than working together.
'course, after you pour 'em, you gotta strip 'em...
Amy's our youngest. She'll be 21 in a couple months. She does other things besides pour foundations whenever she's home from college...

He looks like quite a handfull. Has kind of an impish grin on his face. But what's he doing around heavy equipment with SANDALS on ???(-:
If there is a tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Naw - I've dropped too much stuff on my toes to go along with that line of thinking. That's why I got steel toed work boots now. Trouble is, I've had the boots fer a year and haven't dropped anything on my toes since then.(-:

Great posts Jim!
I wish I had a digital when my college aged daughter came out on a rough crew to help me! The picture of her dragging a 2x10x16' like a beaver would be priceless!
She did distract the guys a bit though, but I really didn't care.

"She did distract the guys a bit though, but I really didn't care."
That's funny, man. Last summer we were doing a bunch of sidewalks for the school district and the necessary grading, and we're sweating like crazy and dust and dirt's sticking everywhere.
So anyways, I send Amy to the lumber yard for something or other and she comes back chuckling to herself and I say "what's up?"
She says with a grin "...oh it's just those guys at the lumber yard. A little estrogen goes a long ways in there! I must have been offered help from 4 or 5 different guys by the time I crossed the yard."
She's a good egg about it all. Really got a great personality to work with all day. Likes to laugh and tease. And she has that spatial intelligence, too. Very good worker and she really likes it. I'd be surprised if she went into the trades professionally, but she sure could.
Boss - you see that peanut gallery in that pour photo? Man, I've had customers watch plenty of times, but about 1/2 dozen of them lined the lawn chairs up and sat right there and watched that pour. Real nice folks, though. In fact, I'm pretty sure that was one of the photos the homeowner took of us and gave to me. I always like working for people who are that interested.
Great idea!! These are always fun. This is of my only son (Three girls, also!) "helping" me install some wainscot in my front entry. Man, this boy loves his tools! I had to get him a new tape measure 'cause he broke the last one.

That pic definitely brought back memories. My Sons often walked around looking much like that...

In Kansas you can drive farm trucks at 14 and I think to/from school, but that might be 15.
Man, you are training him well....Good looking young man....Like Andy said, they are sometimes few and far between....

Boss,
Only if there is a cop around you don't know. Very cool pics.
I actually learned to drive at age 12 in the German country side. Had to drive a Great Uncle home on a few occasions from the tavern....I sat on his lap and steered, he pressed the gas and brake. ~4 mile drive. Helps to to train 'um early.

"I actually learned to drive at age 12 in the German country side."
I first drove the tractor in one of those pics at age 6. I was so light I had to stand on the clutch and hold up on the steering wheel to get it in gear. By the time I was 10 I was working in the fields with it while Dad was at work.
We drove pickups, grain trucks, and larger equipment way before we were 16. But - As far as DAd knows - We never were allowed to drive near town until we were 16.

Then ... he had to pose. This one was supposed to be "making muscles" ...
not sure what it ended up being?

Hey Boss,
I just happened upon your thread. Great pics, brought back some fond memories, especially the old TO-30
That was the first piece of equipment I learned to operate also.
Thanks for taking the time,
John
