Construction Techniques for Long Wall Display Shelves
I am wanting to install a continuous deep display shelf around the entire perimeter of my loft game room similar to those seen in some western style restaurants. I intend to wire it with 110vac so I can plug in things such as neon signs, etc. I want to display a lot of old vintage items, some of them fairly heavy. I am thinking of something similar to the picture attached. Does anyone have an idea where I can find construction techniwues for such a project.?
Thanks!

It's a shelf. You have to take into consideration the anticipated load and the type and conditions of the wall you're mounting against (or ceiling you're hanging from). Do you care if shelf brackets are visible below? There are dozens of variations.

My current thinking is that the shelf would be constructed with a 2 x 4 frame and then covered with a thin paneling or plywood. It would be attached to the wall with lag bolts (which would then be hidden by the sheething) and then supported on the outter edge with chain which would be lagged back to the wall above the shelf. I would probably paint the chain flat black. I have not seen any examples; this is just a concept I have come up with.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Check out Floating Shelf design and torsion box concept. These 2 principles would probably help your design.

I'll do that. I want to thank you for your inputs... really appreciate it.
