What are you talking about?
They can say the same thing over there too. There are plenty of people over (the JLC Forums and the forum Treefreak pointed to was the Finish Carpentry forum) there that left here and never come back. While the two sites, Breaktime and JLC themselves, have very different personalities and they are also populated by some very different personalities too there are plenty of people (like myself who spend time in both). I think that people who excluded one at the complete expense of the other are being sort of niave and narrow minded.
Woodweb is a great place too with lots of good forums. While I generally prefer BreakTime I travel pretty regularly between all three.

Yea, but you're still a "new member" at JLC.

Believe it or not, I spent a year or so there before I ever found this site

I hang out there some. Mostly lurk. It's where I learned to cope with a table saw.
Just kidding.Who Dares Wins.
I posted some information that was really not useful and wanted to delete it. Now this message dangles out there without a delete button.
Treefreak I saw what happened before you deleted the post. You posted a link to Gary Katz's Finish Carpentry forum over on JLC and when someone else posted a whimsical comment saying "tree... a lot of the people here wandered in from over there.. and never went back" out of what seemed to me some misguided loyalty to your friends here you deleted your post and I thought that was silly. The link to JLC was a great suggestion. I was really just sort of surprised you hadn't discovered it before but then it occurred to me that if it was new to you it had to be new to some other people too so I wasn't going to let your good intention and good idea get beaten off this forum. I don't know but to me these forums are not about making and hanging out with friends and buddies, they are a resource and active library of information on building and remodeling so what so wrong about your posting a link to another great resource and library of information? That why I came back and posted the link to Woodweb to which is a really great resource too.
And speaking of useful links to contractor website on one of my websites there is a page full of useful links to other websites useful to builders and remodelers (Recommended Forums and Sites out on the Web for Builders & Remodelers).
Yeah I like this set of forums and probably more than most of the other forum sites out there but not at the expense of all the possible good information that is out there. The contributors here are not the final word at all and even when you don't agree with the majority on a particular topic (as I was in disagreement with so many there regarding coping with a table saw over on JLC) on another website there is still a lot to be learned from that discussion.
The information you posted originally was very useful and worthwhile.

I appreciate that. I am fairly new to this forum and certainly not a trade professional. I was in no way asked to remove the post. I try not post anything outside of my knowledge or experience and this was in that area. The forum seemed to be of value and I may have gave up on it too soon. We'll let it stand on it's own merit and see where it goes. Thanks again.
Just glad to have you here contributing. Keep it up. Just stay curious and keep talking and posting. It's been often attributed to Warren Bennis but I guess we don't really know who first said it but it's till apropos.... "None of us is a smart as all of us."

Thanks for the postings of the other sites. I'll make sure to visit them as needed. Jim"I want a good clean fight. No head butts, no rabbit punches, and no hitting below the belt. Break when I say break, and protect yourself at all times."
