Hello everyone. Was hoping to get some advice on closet door options.
I have four closets with bifold doors. 8ft height and widths ranging from 30 inches to 85 inches. It seems that replacing with traditional bifold would all end up being custom and overly expensive. Plus, would prefer to not have bifold if possible.
Thinking about alternative options for the doors, since there is no frame (and I have no desire to build one), I’m considering a pivot solution to utilize both the existing track and not have to build a frame.
Is it possible to simply take off the “roller” side of the bifold hardware, keep the pivoting part in the corners, and add this to a traditional door slab? For the outward swing I’d need to figure out a way to stop the door from swinging 360 degrees into the wall, however and would need some sort of interior magnetic catch or stop.
Is there better hardware that folks would suggest that could do this?

So, you don’t want hinged doors?
What you propose for slabs you can get wide enough (not 85 nor 42.5”) I don’t think would hold up, even with the best Johnson hardware. The pivot points I can’t say can take the strain.
If in fact you had to do this for narrower openings, your opening door would be stopped by the jamb , maybe at 110 degrees. Otherwise, use a door stop.
By-pass doors can be a no frame solution. Also, they don’t swing into the room. Disadvantage is they only allow access to one half the closet when open.
