Happy New Year, all! I am having a new home built, and now that the foundation block and brick is in, it is apparent that the lot slope will allow for a sizeable slab to be poured in a 15’x48′ section of the crawlspace, rather than the 10’x10′ slab for crawlspace storage I was originally planning on. There will be at least 9′ of headroom in the entire area. I am thinking that it may be a future convertible basement area. Questions: are there problems with this? Are there aftermarket methods to convert the foundation vents to windows, or to seal them? What about the drain tile that my builder will be putting along the inside perimeter of the crawlspace – do I need to tie in a central drain? Any experiences would be much appreciated, as I have to make a call on the slab pour in a couple days. Regards, Eric Buller, Richmond, VA
