I just installed a mahogany cooktop and dropped in a ss gas range on a island.
I am unsure of what to seal the range/cooktop with.
I certainly don’t want material visible.
But I need to ensure liquids and foods do not get under it.
Your suggestions?

Mahogany countertop, with a SS cooktop dropped in?
I'd probably ask the homeowners for permission to build tile sidesplashes that are about three feet tall. Because if they use that cooktop at all, the wood will probably not meet their expectations for long.
Once they declined that, I'd find a color-match caulk to try to seal the edges of the cooktop to the wood. And if color-matched can't be found, I might even use some black caulk --at least it will seem to disappear.
I won't be laughing at the lies when I'm gone,
And I can't question how or when or why when I'm gone;
I can't live proud enough to die when I'm gone,
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here. (Phil Ochs)

Wouldn't a mahogany cooktop be a one time use only?
use the carbon for the aquarium filter...
