Just shipped ten of these off to the home of Rice-a-Roni today. Duane made the carcases for me. These were a bit of a challenge since they were so small and because of the reverse curves. Here’s one with the lovers and face plate installed sitting on the base:
The top is then clamped off. I used Sketchup to lay out the top. Cut a cardboard template and test fit it a couple of times until I got it right before cutting any copper.
Here’s a view from the back, fluxed and ready to solder:
and soldered:
front view:
Here’s a view from the bottom – I flange the perimeter of the hole upward in case some water gets in somewhere – it’ll be directed back out under the bottom louver.
And here’s the finished product with the top flanged tight:

Nice work.......
Copper and slate.
Two materials that I love but I'll never be able to touch.
Nice work.
Nicely done.
Will you get some photos of the install? I'd like to see it, and it would make good copy for your site.

Probably not, but I've got 10 half rounds going in locally.
As soon as Dale gets done with the copper roof we're working on now, we'll be heading for your place. Probably 2-3 weeks. How much snow did you get?http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
Nothing as much as the dire forecast of doom would have suggested. Maybe 4 or 5 inches. Bit of a mess in the am with iciness, but otherwise fine.I'll be out at JLC on Fri 20 / Sat 21. Anytime outside of that is great. You get some security ideas going? Thought later that you might try an X10 set up that's wireless.'Man who say it cannot be done should not interrupt man doing it' ~ Chinese proverb

Got an address? I'll do a drive by photo. Mike

That would be cool - thanks.
Los Altos, CA. They supposedly started slating yesterday. I made all the valley, drip edge, ridge roll, waste vent boots, flashings, etc. A little over a ton of fabricated pieces.
address edited.

I've got the correct address if you want to delete it. I'll take a drive by in a week or so. Grew up about 10 miles south west of there. Mike

Schweeet! Glad it came out so well. That little reverse looks nice, and worth the extra trouble. Good catch on the inside lip, I'da missed that detail.
Wife says it looks like a Darth Chan..I mean Vadar helmet now, instead of the Napolean hat I was wearing around the shop.
Itching to see the bigguns too.

how much blood do you leave on projects like this? - those metal edges send chill up my back -

Not much any more - my hide's gotten pretty tough and I can open a bandaid package and get it applied one handed mighty fast. I probably burn myself as often as I cut myself. http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
Do you install an insect screen somewhere in there?
Looks like it in this pic:

Hey a funny thing..when I was talking Jimmy over at congleton..I mentioned it was a job from you..and he went on and asked about our "Friends" and basically said " WTF? Are they outta thier minds or what?"...
Cracked me up..seems he tried to pull a fast one somehow..I didn't get all the details, but it sounded like thier name is popping up all over.
I'll just have it delivered to the site and meet the truck so it don't get stolen. Even tho' I doubt thats an issue there.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

That's OK if Grant is paying. Just slip it in with his other stuff, he'll never notice. If he asks about the delivery to IL charge, just tell him it must be a typo.

I was thinking in one of the first pics that the carpenter should have coopered the wood slats."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson

Yeah - as John noted, it's on the back of the louvers.http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
What happens on the face, under the brow. Do all the little tabs show like that? Does the brow get folded over the tabs?

I don't understand what you're asking.
These tabs here?
View Image
They're already folded under.
View Image
The face plate has a tabbed flange (to meet the curve) and the top has a tabbed flange that folds under the face plate flange locking them together. Did that answer your question?http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
Yep. Didn't see the tabs on the brow copper, I thought I was still looking at the tabs on the faceplate.
Ok, you done good, I'll approve that work.
