Hi,
Its time to redo the roof on my 100 + year old house in Yonkers, NY. This means removing the cedar shakes and the two asbestos roofs on top, laying a new plywood deck and putting down new timberline architectural shingles. I am planning to use copper gutters to replace the completely deteriorated yankee gutters on the house now. My question is “Should the valleys be flashed with copper or is this totally unnecessary? Is this done only for appearance sake or does it make the roof last longer?”
