Copper vs platic for refrigerator water
I am finally replacing my aging refrigerator. The flexible copper supply line has been in use for 25 years and has likely been bent and rebent several times as the fridge has been moved for cleaning. It is not leaking. Any reason I should consider replacing it? And is copper or plastic the way to go?
Thanks

use the copper...
but under the threat of catrstrophe DO NOT use plastic...

'Nother vote for braided flex.

I like it when there is a large loop of tubing that loops up in the back of the fridge.
The large loop alows you to pull the fridge out and put it back without crimping the tubing.

Sounds like it is unanimous against plastic. I'll take a look at the braided flex. Thanks for your responses.
If you're going to run RO water from sink to refer go for the plastic.
I'll bite......
What is "RO" water?

RO = reverse osmosis.
It's a form of water filtering.
I would still use a braided flex.
Not all plastics are equal, if it's not pex I wouldn't trust a plastic line.
Thanks!

Reverse Osmosis, It's a process that removes pretty much every thing from your water. Being natures perfect solvent pure H2O will desolve copper.
I don't think RO's really make water that pure, or whatever the myth is that makes it hurt copper because I have had a 3/8" copper line distributing a central RO for 25 years with no problems.
I do agree about the braided line from the wall to the fridge. The milky vinyl will break and flood your house.
Copper coils usually rattle if you aren't very careful how you "stack" them behind the fridge.
Thanks, ya' larn sumtin' everday!

you can't be serious about using plastic water line for that application...
more than one of those have broken and floodr a home...
go braided as a 1st choice...

Copper with braided ss if not using reverse osmosis. Polypropylene if RO involved. People get freaked out about plastics, you just have to use proper product and install properly just like anything else. whatever you use leave a nice supported loop behind refer.

Sounds good - thanks
Copper to the wall, braided from the wall to the fridge
