I need to replace my cordless drill, and I had seen a thread that has pros and cons of different makes, but I can’t find it. If somebody could post that bookmark (being new, I’m not sure exactly how to find it), I’d appreciate it. Also, (and this is probably covered in the thread) Where’s a good CHEAP dealer of recycled batteries ? Mine is a craftsman (I know, I know) I got it as a Christmas gift in ’95.. both batteries died last month….
Is the gathering in Toledo Ohio for all ?? I would enjoy going, my wife is not too crazy about it, but I said it would be a nice motorcycle ride, 187 miles….We’ll see..

there is a 14.4 shootout in one of those non-taunton publications this month...
And one in Fine Woodworking #174, Winter 2004/2005. Still available from Taunton Press.http://www.taunton.com/store/pages/backissue_fw.asp

Before buying any new cordless tools I'd wait until the release of the
above
There is a company called "Batteries Plus" that is nation wide
that rebuilds batteries for half the cost of new. They have a web site
but I can't locate it now.
Hope this helps
Edited to add that link takes you to the last post in the thread, you'll
have to back up from there.

GB, as the husband of the wife that said "why don't we have the next one" at the Rhodefest last yr, let me extend an invitation.
And to put your wife at ease, have her read up on some of the news in the Fest Folder. It is a good time and thusfar, no internet axe murderers.
I've got the 15.something Panasonic and am happy with the power and battery life. Added the 12v Impact to it and now in hog heaven.

Thanks to everyone for the information. I'll do a little more research before I commit, I'll let you know what I end up with, might be another Craftsman though..., the 9 years I got out of the old one was well worth the cost.
Thanks for the invite, I'm looking forward to being in the Toledo area. My favorite part is the ride across the river, both ways. Since our daughter graduated UT a few years ago, we haven't been back, except to drive thru to Ill.

Good deal. Go to the fest folder and send me the pertinent info....if you can read that much.
email me through here your mailing address in case anything in print, and phone numbers I can reach you at, along with the number maybe attending. There'll be an official, hope not full of mumbo jumbo thread later.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

That a Panasonic impact you got? If so is it the new version with 2 speed/power settings, belt clip and light or the older version without those features?
Yes, panasonic 2 speed impact with light.
Got a chuck to put in it too.
12 v...........got the extra batt and left the case and the charger. Pan 15.6 charger universal.
Heard just recently they have another one coming out with a few more bells and whistles. Seek out that info.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.
