Good morning! My first posting! I’ve enjoyed viewing BT over the last few days. I need a cordless combo kit(circ saw, drll, sawzall). Thinking about the Porter-Cable. Any suggestions? Thanks.

sometimes DIY use or take it out on missions and make it suffer...

Makita
Thanks. I'll check it out.
Guys!!!!!!!!The OP mentioned this way his first post!!!What would have been Rez's reply?????
I like my lithium ion Makita stuff. The bigger the combo kit you buy (more tools) the better the price per tool is. Caution; compare apples to apples. I've got the 3 amp-hour batteries vs the cheaper and lighter 1.5 amp-hour batteries
Another Vote for Makita. The PC stuff is akin to B&D firestorm tools. Ryobi and Craftsman grade. Low life expectancy IMHO.
im happy with my millwalkee combo
and how come you didn't fill in yur profile???

the pc stuff is lower end, but that said i saw a 4 pc kit at lowes yesterday for 130.00 ,that the price of a couple milwaukee batteries. so not much to lose.
money no problem, i like milwaukee and makita, both good products.
if you can get a impact driver, usally can buy a body only to go with your kit for around 50-60.00. they are a must have for me.
the older i get ,
the more people tick me off
Also buy another drill with 2 more batteries and a charger. Cheaper than buying extra batteries and charge. You will have 4 batteries and 2 chargers. I did this and sometimes wish I had 2 more batteries as you can kill them quick with the saws in a cordless kit.
And for some things two drills with different bits/drivers is really nice."There are three kinds of men: The one that learns by reading, the few who learn by observation and the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves."Will Rogers
<<Also buy another drill with 2 more batteries and a charger. Cheaper than buying extra batteries and charge.>>You gotta watch out for these guys - I did this with my D-W 14V and the batteries I got were so lame compared with the other XRP batteries I already had
Dewalt uses 2 battery types the XRP and the regular. Yo ugot to make sure you buy what you want. The good thing is the batteries are interchangeable.
There's a lot to be said for Makita these days ...
Apart from the merits of the individual tools, whoever is running their 18v LiIon line is pretty switched-on.
Point one in their favor is the variety of assortments available' I'm pretty sure they have the exact line-up available that you want.
Point two is that Makita makes it easy to buy any of the 18v tools alone, or in a kit with batteries. There's no need to get a drill just for a bargain on batteries; that 4th tool can be most anything - might as well get something useful.
Thinking about the Porter-Cable. Any suggestions? Thanks.
@@@
Keep thinking.
Has some. Have not used PC in years. Have not seen any on a job site in years.
Depends what you do. DIY or making a living with them?
DIY or starting out - Ryobi would work. They have that One Battery system and a LOT of toys to fit the 18v battery. I have some 12v Ryobi stuff on the boat.
Living - I am using Makita. When I got those, the Bosch set went in the tool library. Others will root for what works for them.

Last summer I switched to all Ridgid 18v tools. Glad I did.
All combo kits are guaranteed for life (batteries too) if bought at Home Depot and registered on the Ridgid web site.
You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.
Marv
The tools and batteries both are under guarantee for life?Is this an over the counter exchange or do you have to send them in and wait for them to get fixed?

I might buy one of these fancy schmatzy cordless drills someday....http://thewoodshedtavern.com. = no peer mods!
And a laser!
I doubt that I need a laser unless I can use it to blind someone.http://thewoodshedtavern.com. = no peer mods!

So then is the price half as much so I can buy a spare to use while it is in the shop? LolThat is to bad.Notice on several tool reviews lately that rigid is getting good reviews.
the company behind the tool is enough to sour me...

My cordless stuff is all Bosch, but if I were to switch (and I will when the batteries start to #### out), I'd head straight to the Makita aisle based on what I've seen of the tools being used around me.
