Help,
I would like some input on cordless drills. I prefer the smaller format 9.6v systems. I currently have a Makita with the pod battery which I like, but from catalog searches it would appear that Makita is moving back to the stick battery type. I also had (had is the operative word here) a Hitachi which I also liked very much but after two years of moderate to light use it is fried (no drive between motor and chuck). Any input on other brands – DeWalt?, Porter-Cable? – would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad

I use 18v Dewalts. My only complaint is the chucks wear out fairly quick. I've had to replace several chucks.
*Porter-Cable has been very good to me. I carry a 5+ Y/O 12v it does most day to day stuff(nice and light),and two 14.4v one w/hammer(very convenient for the occasional tapcon etc.)when I don't feel like getting the Bull Dog out of the truck. I have heard of folks having trouble w/ the electric brake crapping out, but this has yet to happen to me. My 14.4v's I think are of a newer generation. Good luck, Mark
*If you are looking for a 9.6 v the Milwalkie is tough to beat. Mine is about 12 years old, looks like crap but still working good. For heavier use, as with Grant L, I use the Dewalt 18v. My 2 c.
*bosch 12 or 14.4v.
*To All,Thanks for the input, guys. In a panic (need) I ordered a Dewalt 9.6v so we'll see how it holds up.Thanks again.Brad
