I am considering Paslode’s “cordless” framing nailer, for doing those annoying little details my framing sub won’t do. Blocking for cabs, drop ceilings, nailing up the framing the plumbers and sparkies disassemble or wreck, etc. Anyone have experience with these?

I'm on my second one.
Great for backup framing like you describe.

I use the impuse guns -- the framer and the trim nailer. I use pneumatic roofers and staplers (for underlayment). However, I'm a remodeler, not a framer. If I had to work with a lot of yellow pine, the impulse wouldn't cut it.
Some obvious disadvantages of the impulse are the occasional cleaning (sometimes daily if I do get into framing), and the lack of power for harder woods (as I stated above). I used to have pneumatic framers and sheathing nailers when they were new and all the rage. I can't imagine going back to them.
When they do quit working, it's incredibly frustrating. But that's true when any tool that I get dependent upon quits working.
mic... why bother with the paslode.. if yur subs won't do what u want... just use yur .357... and bury the bodies under the basement slab... the rest'l come around

Mike,
Yikes!! Do you think you would have any problems with settling in the slab with those bodies under there?
Have the new generation of paslode framers improved that much over the older ones? How often are you guys having to clean them?

not if you can get them to 90% compactionMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
That will never happen Mike, framers are so full of crap you will never get any where near 90% compaction. As for those Paslode cordless nailers, I have two of the orange ones and nobody on my crew likes them for anything but plumb and line. They constantly need attention and break down frequently. I am hoping that Paslode will continue with some research and development.
Mike is from RI. They have experience with that sort of thing down there. The techniques can't be discussed fully in public - and if he gave you a demonstrations, well, he'd have to kill you.
;)
My newer framer is better than the old black mistake. The older black trimpilse is my favorite over the new red trimpulse though..

They'll send a free video on cleaning procedures if you can demonstrate that you are a legitimate purchaser.

fantastic second gun....
terrible main gun.
You'll hate it if you rely on it all day everyday...
You'll love it for pick up work when the compressor is too heavy and the gun/hoses are buried in the back of the van.

my partner has the older black framer. i have the orange framer, its year and half new. i love it. i have done shear wall and floors with it. it has never broken down. i get it cleaned after every job. our tool repair shop will completely break down and check the framer or trim gun for 8.00. my trim gun is 8 years old-replaced one 0 ring and the fan. seems the framer is as good. paul.
