Anyone have cork flooring in their house or have any thoughts on it? I wast thinking of installing it in my kitchen. I would probably use the floating plank type, pre finished I guess it is. I don’t mind if it gets some scratches etc it is a floor after all. I’m more concerened about staining and long term. I think they finish it with a varnish or poly of some sort. Can I or do I need to plan on adding varnish down the road if it gets worn? If it’s kind of a “throw away” in 10 years type thing I probaly wont do it. I really like the look of it and hope it works out but don’t want to regret it in a year or so.
Thanks
Dana

Yes I have cork flooring
I have a part time house in NC mountains and put in glue down cork [ 12x12 and 12x 24 ] in two bedrooms and the living/family room. I have two large dogs and the soill there is dirt/clay. I have no regrets. Here in Florida I have it in my kitchen and two bathrooms and have no regrets. I installed all of it myself. It has held up well and is easy to clean.
I got mine from Duro-Design, a Canandian company. They have a website from which you can order 6 different styles in 56 different colors and the installation and tech details can be downloaded from PDF files. They sell a two part catalyzed water based polyurethane finish that is easy to apply and quite durable from my experience.
They have [had] a floating floor tile but I used the gluedown. I like getting two different colors for accent and border design. It's incredibly easy to shape and cut..
It's a good choice for people with allergies. It's easy on the feet and feels warmer to the feet on cold mornings.
BTW, I have no commercial or financial interest in the company. I have pimped for them on this site before just because of theri good product and service and the guy I talked to on the phone sounds like Pepe Lepew.
cork flooring
Installed a floating plank cork floor in a kitchen about 5 years ago for a customer that has 2 large dogs. Was there a few weeks ago & was suprised @ how well the floor stood up, I figured w/ the dogs claw it would have been torn apart, but not the case. if you use a natural color mostdings will blend in
