What’s the correct way to close off a fireplace? I’m eliminating one in an upcoming renovation. It’s flush with the existing wall, so after I close it up I can just fir out and drywall over it, but what should I do to close it up? I’m mostly interested in safety and energy effiecency. I’d like to do it in a way that a future remodeler can open it back up if they want to.

You should still maintain a draft up the flue to avoid condensation/dampness. Normally here we set a small vent in the dry-wall just above the base and in the middle of the fire-opening.
The alternative is to take the chimney down to below roof level and cap it off -- then you can fill the fireplace in solid if you want.
Been reading yer posts of late and notice the time continuum has been altered.
Here at the beginning of Construction Techniques I found this buried in that primordial ooze...
be wondering what is at the beginning of General Discussion.

According to my Field Guide to North American Foul Fowl, that's a rather well groomed, large breasted, yellow belly sap sucker.
Man, I dug into a new book that really twisted my joint tight.
"Hiding in the mirror" A Physics text sort of describing the parallel universis and space time light travel curvature of space.
One of them, read page , absorb, read it again, re absorb, sleep on it, read it again..whew.
I thought for years I was crazy, now I'm either convinced or more conflicted. Dimensional collusion is NOT an illusion, it is real, and I can almost prove it with out a doubt.
It used to be ya had to do an acid trip or have severe head trauma to actually see the other dimensions, and I have not had either, so this is really an experience that can be fully felt...ya ever see the Einstien Black board? Ya know, the funny letters and numbers all jumbled up there in black and white? It actually makes sense to me now....
Worst acknoldgement of my soon to be genius-hood was getting my hair cut yesterday, and the dude says " Ya want me to clip them eyebrow hairs while I'm at it?" I take that as a sign of ascension to the higher ranks of genius hood, the ear hair can wait.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

The "laws" of vibration explain that the physical universe descends from the spiritual realm. When we, as spirits, want to experience life in the physical universe we must intentionally slow down our own vibrational level to the point where it takes a physical form. Conversely, by simply speeding up again to our spiritual level, we can dematerialize momentarily, without any harm to the physical body.
What is more common is astral projection...intentionally leaving the body in spirit for short journeys into the spiritual world. This isn't very difficult for anyone who can maintain a meditative state. There are books on the subject which guide one into such out of body experiences.
But the Truth is that we come here to learn what is real and what is illusion. What is real is only the higher Self, God which can be experienced within ourselves, in the moment. Only That is permanent. That experience, in the moment. All else is illusion because it's only energy resting at a certain level of vibration. In any case it's all God waiting to be recognized as the Self of All so that we can continue on to the next realm.
Recognizing that we are all interconnected is the beginning of the next level of human evolution. It's been happening for several generations and it's becoming stronger.
We are All One Being.

There's a great discussion of vibrations and parallel universes in The Mighty Wind. Couple of the characters talk about their atypical religion.

ya, while cruisin' around back there in the early Construction Techniques I was preceptive of a certain harmonious ebb and flow proceeding from those ranks.
I did grow a bit concerned when at one point I slowed my progression and noticed the monitor glow lessen. Somewhat alarming when in am early morning pain laden frame of mind.
It was amazing what one could see when the vibratory levels became altered to a slower degree and various elements of evolutionary development became evident.
When the Ginx and Garzan both appeared at the same time it was most unnerving so I decidedly increased my speed wanting to end the test run as quickly as possible.
Rez......hummm. Could that refer to resins?
Of the two, Tarzan has always had more appeal. Swingin' naked through the rain forest, looking for Jane, was a personal image/quest that helped me get through the early years of puberty as well as hours of classroom boredom. The line, "me Tarzan, you Jane" was always a great opener, even at ten or eleven. ;-)

OK. That explains the three day lag in responding to the previous post.
:-)

I tried that but it didn't work. Maybe I should take the aluminum foil off my head?

Gotta wear loose fitting clothes too. Boxers are a must.
