I know many of you don’t like to talk money but has anyone calculated their average cost just to stay in business per year? Our was around $8500. for things like license, insurance, continuing education, state fees, county taxes, etc. Thats not anything associated with any building, employees or equipment, just the cost for the business to be legit and legal to operate in Florida.
It would be interesting to see a Cost of Doing Business report for places around the country like they have a Cost of Living rating.

2 friends went out as they did not do much work and could not cover there nut.
I pay just a bit less but I have dropped my insurance to a real minimum lately. When (and if) this winery job starts I will be paying a whole lot more again but income will easily match the costs. Just trying to keep outflow matching in flow lately.
Getting dicey here though if the project doesn't roll soon.

About 14k, but almost all insurance. <reminder to shop for insurance--again. doubt i'll switch, as my current agent emails certs in an hour, and is generally easy to work with>
Ohio, 22k ish. Some of this has to do with how many folks work for you and how many vehicals you use. DanT
just one guy here.
truck is $250x 12 for $3K
add $1K yearly maintence
biz insurances Const Policy and Truck Policy $1,500
phone is $1,500
tools are already bought and paid for ... new tools are priced into jobs as needed ...
so guessing yearly "retooling" is another $1K.
so that's $8K right there.
accounting fee's pretty much cancel themselves out vs the money "saved" if I tried to do my own taxes.
then there's always the "mental costs" associated ...
but that's paid for outta the beer fund.
