We have a 700 square foot cottage and are looking for a ball park figure to install Cape Cod siding (www.capecodsiding.com). How much should we expect to pay? The materials cost is about $4900.
Also, how many days is reasonable for this job? The cottage currently has vinyl siding on it.

Cape Cod seems to have several styles of siding. A lot depends on which one you choose.
Installation prices vary regionally, and with the quality of the work the carpenter does. Someone who just slams the siding up is likely to be cheaper than another contractor who takes the time to ensure the windows are properly flashed and so forth. Best thing to do is learn a bit about what "right" looks like, then find a reputable contractor who engages in those best practices. I was going to refer you to an article in the magazine, but there are so many that it was hard to pick. I'd suggest spending the money on a digital subscription and researching this - The $50 or whatever it is is small change compared to the cost of your siding job.
