Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Miele, Jeff.
I heard on the radio today they have a promo on Miele DW, buy any Miele DW and get a $400 knife block free. Hmmmm...may be I'll go get a new DW.
Did you do the stairs? Beautiful in every respect.
Those damn stairs nearly got the best of me!
The treads and risers are from Wilsonart ... they match the flooring in another room.
The risers are just Wilsonart TapNLock flooring ripped down ... the treads are their One Tread .. or something like that.
That part was easy enough ... but the salesman told the HO how "we" could wrap the whole thing ... the wedding cake bottom steps ... the strigner caps ... everything ... simply using an "assortment" of wilsonart products.
Or in other words .. take a bunch of laminated/engineered products .. and use them in every which way but that which was intended!
That's a flooring transition strip running up thet side and around those bottom steps fer crying aught loud!
Sure ... just use regular flooring ... so there's no seams ... then make sure that sideways transation strip stays put when someone walks on it!
Planes ... trains ... automobiles ... glues .. screws ... nails .. and more glue!
I adhered the trim pieces with a bead of PL low ... yellow glue up high .. finish nailed thru the face ... and pin nailed the miters! Gotta spend a little time with a filler crayon.
But ... I found the perfect coupla fillers ... so it all disappears ... just takes time.
The HO said it came out better than he had hoped.
That ... and payment ... is all I need!
Those stairs were regular housed stringers .. carpet grade.
I cut open the bottoms ... framed out the bottom 2 steps ... and infilled framing to make up for the stringer I cut away.
maybe I can find a before pic ...
looks a little different now.

I couldn't find a "starter" pic of those stairs ...
the one with a garbage pile is the best I could do ...
I almost forgot .... I opened the whole thing up. They originally had a full stud wall from top to bottom.
I cut the whole "outside" side open first ... to let some light in ...
boxing out the lowers was the next logical(?) step.

Great work, Jeff! What kind of railing will you have on the stairs? "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading." ~ Henny Youngman
Jeff,
While the granite is unique I really like the stairs. Nice finish, real even. Great job. DanT
under that safety wrap on the hood is some nice brushed aluminum ... at least I think it's brushed ... might actually be shiny....
the rail is gonna be a welded up deal ... almost gonna look like jail bars .. to me .... will have to see how this latest customer desigh pans out ... all round stock ... set on 4" plates ... and powder coated ...."some wild color" ... which I'll find out when I get back after vacation ....
The stairs turned out nice ...
but I woulda went with the br11 flooring ... full one piece planks ... for the risers ... as opposed the the patchwork wilsonart ... for a more traditional look.
Hope my painter and electrician are there as we speak.
