Cover the valleys when doing new shingles or keep them visible?
Hi,
1- I have had couple roofers tell me they want to cover the valleys as that is the better way. In a 60 year old home with valley showing exposed now and shingles curled up, what is the better thing to do for roofing: Cover valleys with shingles or not?
2- Roofer tells me it is about ~$5000 for shingles (cambridge iko) and about ~$4000 to install them for a total of $9000 for a ~2690 square feet roof. Are these numbers accurate?
Thanks.

The decision to cover valleys with shingles during a roof replacement depends on various factors, including the condition of the existing valleys and the roofer's recommendation. If the valleys are exposed and damaged, covering them can provide added protection. Consult multiple roofing professionals for their opinions.
The cost of a roof replacement can vary based on factors like location, labor costs, materials, and the complexity of the job. The figures you provided ($5,000 for shingles and $4,000 for installation) seem reasonable for a 2,690 square feet roof, but it's advisable to obtain multiple quotes to ensure accuracy and compare pricing.
