Craftsman-style Window Trim on Stucco

Anybody have a good detail? Not a “stucco molding”. I want a painted 1×6 trim to stand proud of the 7/8-inch stucco by 1/2-inch, or so. I’m using new wood windows (ordered with no brick mold, just the frame edge flush to the sheathing). The idea is to install either a 1×4 or 3/4-inch furring of some kind, to match the depth and to screed-off the stucco. Then install the wider trim board to lap over the stucco joint, so the inevitable separation crack is not visible, and so I have no sealant joint to maintain (I have Moiststop E-Z Seal flashing against the sheathing and sealed the the edge of the window frame). The head will have metal drip flashing over the trim. . . anybody do this before?

Yep. Once upon a time those boards were called "grounds."
Pay carefull attention to the drainage plane.
Do just like you described, then wrap the grounds in stucco stop. That's what it's made for and it works great.
