I had to post this picture of the gyrocopter I used to fly. I had to custom make that instrument panel to fit around my long legs. Wow….no wonder after a two hour flight I was ready to come down.

Stan,
Just curious, what is that red thing in front of the canopy?

Jon: That is my yaw indicator. Real high tech,,,,huh?
It is used to indicate that the aircraft is pointed into the relative wind...for the most efficient flying. While I was taking the picture...the yaw string shows I need right rudder.
A quick way to remember which rudder pedal to use,,,think of the end of the string where its tied as a snakes head. You then step on the snakes head with the foot that is closest. In this case..right foot. This will then turn the fuselage towards the direction of the string. You want the string pointed straight back at you.
This gyrocopter that I sold did not have any sides,...so you could easily feel the relative wind coming in on either the right or left side. The one I have now is totally enclosed and I will not get that feedback. Here is a picture of the nose of it and you will see my little red yaw string just awaiting its duty.
