Hello!  I am an architect working in the DC Metro area.  I had a question regarding the final details of using the standard “16” x 8″ screened louver vent” that I have spec’d many times.  The case in question is a home designed with a brick veneer.  What I would like to do is hold the vent back from the brick, and use a few soldier courses spaced a couple of inches apart to allow airflow.  What sort of problems am I likely to run into?  Off the top of my head, I am worried about water getting back into the airspace between the sheathing and the brick veneer.
