Hey guys,
I’m putting together a new inage for my company and i’m searching for some sort of clipart for the new logo. Anyone have a good site for archeictural type drawings, somewhere along the lines of craftsman or arts & crafts style?
Thanks.

I think I read somewhere about logos and company images, never use clip art. I guess that means generate your own idea.
I did that for mine, and have nothing but praise and compliments on the design.
Just saying.

Thanks everyone. Having read the comments, anyone have suggestions as to where I could see some samples of other logo's?I have an idea about what I want, it's just a little fuzzy.

I've used this website before, and was pleased with the work they did. You tell them what you want and how much you're willing to pay, and different designers submit samples. You give feedback etc, until you get one you like, and then you let them know to draw up a final version, which they email to you, then you can use it for whatever you want.
I found out about them from a post here on BT, so I checked them out. This is a logo they did for me awhile back. BTW when I looked this up to see where I had recently posted this, I found it was in a post to YOU!

Thanks.
I talked to my SIL and I got the cards this week and my banner which will be flown at "The Dream Cruise".
I like the new stuff so much better that it makes me feel better about my company.
Funny how little changes make alot difference.

As a designer, I will implore you to create something and forgo the use of clip art.
That stuff as a general rule, shouldn't be seen outside the flier for the neighborhood BBQ.

I guess clipart may have been the wrong phrase. Just looking for some graphic ideas.

Well, if you've got the inclination to noodle around, here's what I'd suggest.
Sketch out a couple of ideas. Doesn't matter what they look like, the important part is getting them on paper.
Then, look through something like this site for some extra inspiration

Everybody's got their own take on logos. For a simplified version, think of it this way. You can either go the route that uses something iconic to your profession (hammer, rafter square, tape measure, etc.) or lean toward something that's more amorphous (like 3 cubes of different colors).
Next step. Download a graphics program like GIMP or Inkscape and start drawing your logo. You can look through Adobe's fonts here and purchase something if it strikes your fancy.
You could also try something like this, but I think it's kind of clip-arty. Still it might give you some ideas to play around with.
If that's too much effort (and it might be), you could try posting a note on your local craigslist about hiring a logo designer and see what kind of responses you get.

That's cool and it's what I'm looking for. A great idea use a piece of a blueprint.

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say that clip art always puts me off. I almost won't hire anyone who uses clip art in their logos.
Now, that being said, artists are starving everywhere daily. Shouldn't be to hard to find someone starting out willing to make your vision a reality for not too much coin. Good Luck.

As a customer I am curious to know what was wrong with your original image?
I felt it wasn't directed at what I wanted as a target audience. It was "msa home improvements, for all your building needs". It was too general and the fonts didn't necessarily say "high end". Now I have "msa home improvements, restoration & renovation. Old world, new world, your world". The response has been positive so far.

I have an associate who I have worked with who has his own company. He has all his shirts, truck, and trailer logo-ed. His logo is a hand plane planing a piece of wood carved with his business name. It's very nice and elegant which made me ask him about it once. He said his dad made up the name and a friend of his owns a print shop so he had the friend design it up. He liked the design because he thought the plane and carving made the company look more "high end". I agreed. Then one day while working with him I came across a need for a plane but didn't have one onboard. So, I ask this fella to borrow his. He says he's never owned one. "uh, isn't your logo of a plane?" "yeah, but that's just for looks". I had to shake my head.On the flip side, I have been struggling to settle on a logo for over 5 years. I have hundreds of sketches and have talked to dozens of people; some architects and builders and one fine artist but no graphic designers. I just cannot figure out something that is simple enough to remember and conveys the "custom designer/quality builder" idea I would like to convey. You would think it would be easy with a name like "Dreamcatcher Design&Build". As a result, I have never tagged my van, made t-shirts, signs, etc. that may have gotten me more/better business.DC
Point well taken and I did spend some time deciding whether or not I could deliver on the new image.
I feel confident that we will be able to take on most anything that comes our way. I've been doing most of what comprises the larger jobs in small scale for a long time and i've also handled larger renovations so I know how to keep the job on track and moving.
I have alot to offer a high end client now I just need to earn their trust and get my foot in the door (kinda like saying I just need to stop by the peak of everest, i know).

You are missing A LOT of business by not marketing. Get off that fence! Make a decision.
Your post reminded me of one of Bob Parsons's "16 Rules". Bob is the owner/founder of GoDAddy. His rule #8 is:
8. Be quick to decide.
