I want to share this view of an out-of-door living space my son and I built for my wife, his mother. It is remarkable how often we dine and relax out here! Yes, even in the cold of a midwest winter we delight in gathering around a fire, singing songs (he plays the guitar) or chatting about the day’s events.
The wall is made from cement block and topped with stucco. It lies on a crushed rock foundation. Wall caps were custom-made and glued in place. The shade structed is supplemented by roll-down shades (not seen in this photo) that afford a sense of privacy. The floor is blue stone. Potted plants add the right touch.

Your outdoor space really looks wonderful. I love those plants who have planted.. What are they called?
Plant name?
To be honest, I don't know the names of the plants. However, they are gifts that a company called Proven Winners left with us after they had done their photo shoot on the patio. Photos of our outdoor room can now be seen on their web page and brochure. Proven Winners is a Nation-wide firm -it has branch companies in Europe- that supplies plants to box stores such as Lowes. Most of these plants are annuals. The potted grasses afford privacy from passers-by on the public walk way. Two lights nestled into the upper corners of the shade structure provide the perfect setting for evening dining. A portable fire place allows us to make smores, warm our hands, and poke the embers. Let me be frank: this is a costly project! If I were doing it for a client it would probably sell for $25-30K...sigh. The atmosphere in this outdoor room (with plantings on the outside) is like non I've ever experienced! Thanks for your interest.
