Think it is time to get these.
who are the better manufactures for these type tools? Klien, Belden, ???
since they won’t be used often, thinking medium duty.

RJ45 looks like big phone connector, right? Don't know much about those.
As to coax, don't do what I did and get a hex crimper...an exercise in frustration. Compression type is far better. I got this one from these folks, you'll need a stripper too...and connectors.

Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
Since you won't be using it constantly, you might want to consider the Ideal brand for a coax compression tool. Most of the supply houses that I deal with carry the Ideal connectors, and I've seen them at the HD, also.
Keep in mind that the connectors are not a universal fit in the compression tools. I bought the Thomas & Betts kit, and, when I needed a few more connectors in a pinch, I found out the hard way that another brand (Ideal in this case) wouldn't fit.
Compatibility isn't nearly as much of a problem with modular plugs. I have the General Machine Products modular crimper kit, and I haven't found a brand of plug that won't fit in it. I wouldn't recommend that you buy one, as it's a bit pricey (about $400 with leather case, and 3 dies). Of course, mine's lasted 16 years, so far, with no trouble...

bobquindon took the words right out of my mouth. Whenever I think "medium duty", I think Ideal. Not the greatest tools, but reasonable value as long as you aren't using them day-in-day-out. I've got an Ideal RG6 crimper that has lasted almost 10 years.Scott.
