What do folks do about the gap between crown molding and the ceiling? Caulk always seems to open up when the seasons change (like now). Scribing always makes the crown lose its detail. Suggestions?

Stop staring at it.
*Hi Gary - Here is a related thread from the archives.Jeff
*Float out the ceiling with drywall compound.
*Like Frank said - if you want crown, get your ceilings and walls prepared correctly first.Don't ya just love installing crown in rooms that have textured ceilings!
*If the crack is all the way around the room, then maybe you didn't bed the moulding correctly. You gotty pictures?Ed.
*We did what Frank suggested using drywall compound. Worked pretty well. If we had it to do over again, we would have ripped out the ceiling and put in a new one (this falls under the category of properly prepared walls and ceilings). We just didn't fully realize how bad it was until putting in the crown moulding. Oh well. Live and learn. The crown moulding still looks awesome and I'll bet its the only log cabin around with beautiful crown moulding!!!
*You could drop the crown moulding down an inch to creat a shadow line. Either that or use some high quality caulking. Some guys don't like that though.
*Gary...This is FHB,...Youse got a crack?near the stream,ajWhere is the "so, so" homebuilding site...?
*I am in the midst of repairing the floor joists in a 1926 house. They have been eaten by termites. The next project will be to replace the main beam that runs the length of the house. At the same time I have this gap between the wall and the floor on the first level. I think that it is due to the main beam failing. How do I determine where should the house sit? How do I determine did the beam cause this gap? When I roll a golf ball across the floor starting at the gap the ball rolls towards an outside wall. Where does the house need to be lifted from and how do I measure it?
*Hey matt, you must be a new guy. It's bad manners to highjack someone else's thread to post a new question.Go back and hit "Post Message".Start there........not here.Ed.
*Use our 'Crack'?
*OK...April Fools posting yesterday...near the stream cracking up looking up...your crack,aj
*The only way to deal with this problem is to float out the ceiling with "sandable 90" or joint compound.
