Hi folks.
Im trying to work my way through a problem. my question is this; is it possible to do a return to end crown molding on a wall that has a sloped ceiling. I essentially have a situation where im doing crown over a set of stairs. and at the top of the stairs there is a door. the door is a standard size door. but just shy of the top is where the vaulted ceiling starts. in this picture you can see a 1×2 that caps the corner where the vaulted ceiling takes off and the cavity of the door starts. i was going to strip that off and do a return but i just realized its a sloped ceiling! any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure where you’re running the crown, (morning w/o that first cup of coffee). I have installed a whole lot of crown in conventional situations and a decent amount of unconventional runs and endings.
However, here’s a link to a post on This is Carpentry. Search around this site and you shouldn’t be disappointed. The answer might be just a few clicks away.

Hope this helps and now to the coffee….
