Cruddy 80’s garage into 1890’s carriage house.
Hello All,
I have a 3 car 33y22′ garage that was built in the 80’s and it looks it. It does not match the proud purple VIctoroian it stands behind
.
I want to turn it into a victorian era carriage house.
I want to completely remove the existing 2by6 3in12 pitch roof and replace it with a 2by8 12in12 pitch roof rotated 90 deg.
I would also like to add some doghouse dormers to the street facing side and a large shed dormer to the side that doesn’t face the street.
I plan to use it as storage and essentially an artists studio with an eliptical trainer and punching bag.
Some bugaboos that have been noted over at Breaktime 3
Does this make it a 2 story building? Or 1.5 story with lots of storage.
This will raise the roof line like 6′ am I even allowed to have an accesory building be that tall?
Are the existing 2by4 walls and headers over the garge doors strong enough?”
What if I sistered 2by4’s to the existing to make a 4by4 would that be strong enough to support this large half story.
The garage is right on the property line so I can’t demolish and build new. I can only demolish 50%.
Hope the pics turn out.
Don’t know how to make them show iup inlne with the text.
Anyway the first pic is of the actual garage and the second to are renders I did in Chief ArchX1
