cultured stone veneer over cracks in concrete wall
Hi,
I’d like to veneer some concrete retaining walls with cultured stone. I’m concerned that cracks in the concrete which were part of the curing process will telegraph. There is plenty of steel in the walls. Is there some sort of method for preventing any overlay from cracking too?
Thanks,
Tom

Just mud one side of the rock that spans a joint, let the other end float. Use Flex mortar.

Hey thanks. I actually thought about that. I guess any grout joint will crack but not that big a deal I suppose.
I've never even heard of flex mortar. I'll have to look into that.

maybe,
use a crack isolation membrane across the cracks and mud that in b/4 setting the stone.

I was wondering about this too. I'll have to do a little asking around down at the local building supply yard. They have pretty much everything there is when it comes to masonry. Thanks.
