I’m searching for design ideas for a cupola on a barn. It will be a functional, venting cupola and is being installed on a “Hollywood type’s” play barn, so looks are paramount. Please lead me to some pictures————->

FHB had a great article on cupolas a few years ago...

I've got the full set of FHB and have gotten some good ideas from various articles. I've also done the Google thing and seen the old standards. Now I'm looking for original Ideas. Someone here has done something they're really proud of, or they have a great new idea and they just need a guinea pig to try it on.
Please share.
How big of a structure is it going on? Nicest assed cupola looks terrible on something too small or too big.
well, I'll be. Not on the prospero word list. And w/o even trying.............

This is for both Calvin & Nick Pitz Thanks for your interest.
It's on a 100' x 100' gable roof barn in the heart of the rockies. It's a very traditional barn. The roof is gabled on the north and south ends. On the east and west sides the roof rafter is 30' long on a 6/12 pitch running up to a 3' high clerestory wall with windows. Above this there is another roof with 20' rafters on an 8/12 pitch intersecting at a 100 foot long ridge. The owner only wants one cupola and it's for a barn ventilation system. The mininum size required for air is 5' x 5'. I'm thinking, for the sake of scale, that it should be 8' x 8'. Give me your thoughts and design ideas.
Thanks

Slater, sorry I don't have the pics at hand, but there are (were) fine examples of creative cupolas here in NW Ohio. If you had the time I could take a few, but I think you are needing them now. Here's a search result that has a couple that might help you figure size and shape. There's nothing exciting but it could get you thinking.

Where is it? If its going to look real, it ought to go with the local styles, if there are any.
