I’m building a family room/kitchen addition which will have a center atrium open to the ridge. I plan to install a cupola in the center of the roof with windows for light and ventilation. I’m in a cold climate. Any ideas on what sort of openable windows to use, since access would be possible only with a very long pole? Thanks.

Install Velux skylights with the remote or operable rain sensors.
Expensive as all get out..but it fits the job.

Tommy, can you hear me?
Why look here?
Thanks. Can they be installed vertically? I was planning a square cupola with copper roof and what would look from the ground like regular windows on each side.
Yes, they would be acting as a bottom tilt out..awning type window.
I think a Velux dealer should be able to hook you up.

Sounds perfect. Thanks.
iirc, you can get a low voltage motor operator for Andersen Casements or Awnings.
