Any of you out there been having trouble lately with TJM Microlams cupping. I’ve seen some between joists as headers in a floor curl apart almost 5/8″. After sheathed even. Had quite a few more trying to come apart. TJM rep says it’s because they had to remove the wax they used to put on them and now they take on water more easily. Tried toenailing in opposite directions when first building them. Rows of 3×131 5 on 16″ centers. What is your solution if you have one.

I noticed it also but I figured it was due to shipping to Alaska. We always seem to get sent a bunch of crap lumber anyway .It's just SNAFU for me.
I've done the same thing , tried to toenail it into submission , without much luck.

*Jim, those cupped micros bring back bad memories of our first micros.The later waxed versions fixed that problem. Why did they quit waxing them?blueps, I'd consider bolting them before they cupped. If the cupping is occuring because the lumber is stored on the ground, flip the board over for one night. The cupping will reverse itself.
*blueRep says lumberyards complained they were to slick to ahndle safely with a forklift, and blamer framers said they were to slippery to walk on.jim
*Hehehe Jim...what is a blamer framer?Those things are indeed slippery, especially in the winter when they get a little snow. I don't see how they're going to survive in the elements however.Around here, were still getting them waxed. Your suppliers are probably just trying to bump coporate profits by saving on that particular manufacturing process.blue
