Thought I’d show one of my decks too ! This one has ipe decking, screwed and plugged. The top cap on the rail is also ipe.
The railing pickets are meranti, and most of the screen, and pergola elements are WR cedar. The decking is sealed with Seasonite, to let it go silver, and most of the rest is sealed with penofin, to retain the color.
Went over and took some more pics of this deck we completed 4 months ago, this time with my digital camera !
Remember to click ‘Show All’ at the top of the yellow album box, then, at each pic, look down to your right and click ‘View>Full Screen’.

Nice shots Joe, Is that Trex you used for fascia? I like the handrail detail. Tell us how you made the cuts and what you cut it out of.
That bamboo looks like a pain to work with. Did you have to pre-drill and screw each piece?
Keep up the good work........

No, isn't Trex facia, but one of the other composits .. can't think of the brand.
The handrail is laminated ipe, with a long dado down the one edge.
The bamboo comes in rolls, but is still a bit of work to cut to length, and then yes, we have to screw every 10th or so cane to make it stay put.
I'd locew to see these shots if you could post them here, Joe. I couldn't get in even using the name and password you provided

I was wondering why I wasn't getting any responces !
Anyone able to see it now ?
yeah its lovely!!!!!!!!
still can't get it after twenty minutes trying.
Must have to do with cookies and firewalls and such.
Oh well..

OK, I'll do a few at a time here then. The first two are CAD images, the next two are overall pics.
Here are a few of the railing.
The stairs are ipe .. except for the WR cedar stringers, and the meranti posts.
The screen and pergola, and facia.
man ! I'm tired, and, full of turkey ! Pretty nice job, hey ? Wish I could finally make some decent money doin it though ! Ah well.. it's what keeps me going !
Some of these are 4 months old, and the other are just after it was complete
Thanks, Joe.
It was good of you to include the CAD drawing too. Most of the photos I have downloaded so far arre too close up to visualize the whole thing without them.
need to get Stan to fly over in his gyrokapopter for a sky view.
I especially like the alternations in the railing. Do you do this often?.

Joe, thanks for posting.
The "alloverstitch" gives a nice perspective of the whole railing project.
Thank you for your posting
hoping you might take me through your "cap corner" methodology - it is beautiful and I have not had those fine results on outside miters. I've seasoned, gorilla ed, bisquited, and screwed close by but they open up to 1/4" at times
like your spline - do you use your bisquit jointer for the slot?
ya making some money on them!? I tend to think of them ( ipe decks ) as beginning at app $30 / sq ft if it's close to the ground and before benches, steps, rails..etc.. can make for a very pricey deck/porch proposition what will the market bare? When does the customer go wo nelly we be lookin at something else
thanks again John
Tell you my secret techniques for that Perfect Corner ? Well, it's easy .. if you know how ! All you need is a 5/16 spline cutter router bit, the patience to get that Perfect Joint, and, some very well seasoned ipe, which is the most stable wood I've Ever worked with, even un-seasoned. I've had that 5/4 ipe railcap stock sitting outside under an overhang for well over a year. That corner joint did open up a Very Tiny bit after a month, but a little poly glue filled that right up.
I don't think any of the joints are going anywhere ... it's been 4 months.
I'll be getting that spline cutter bit soon thanks! John
Nice work Mr. Wood
Nice work...
