I have a customer that wants to replace an old stainless steel sink. The sink is in the corner of the countertop. The front and back of the sink is curved to make the 90 degree bend.
They said they have searched high and low and can’t find a replacemenet sink similar to theirs. For many reasons, changing the countertops, cabinets, etc. is not an option at this point. Has anyone seen a sink like this?
Thanks for any input…

Thanks for the reply. I have seen sinks similar to what you posted. However, I need one that curves in the front and back so it will work in an existing countertop. I have attached a crude picture to try and show what I mean. Hope it makes sense.
Anyone else run into this before? I could really use some input on this. THanks!
If you don't mind ordering from abroad I was able to find the following sink on the attached site:

Thanks for the help. That is getting closer but still doesn't fit the profile I need. (Like I show in my crude drawing). I have looked online quite a bit and can't seem to find anything that would work. I know there has to be a source somewhere...
Yes, there is a sorce. IF your client wants to pay for it.You should be able to get one fabricated at a SS fabricator such as one that does commercial kitchen work.
Freddddd...........?
How old is the sink?
No name on it?
What plumbing suppliers have you contacted?
How about one of the local Kitchen suppliers that have been around like Kitchen Design Plus-a family operation for quite a while. Or maybe Cabinet Impressions here in Maumee? They've been open for 20 years and tho a bit unusual in the customer service area, might be able to come up with something. There are more.
Have you investigated anything from Blanco or Kindred?

Cal-
The sink is 25 -30yrs old. I am having all the specs and dimensions mailed to me as we speak. I don't have a lot of info other than I have seen the sink many times. Customer is also a relative that I have done projects for in the past. They are about 1 1/2 hours away so I haven't just run over to look at things. And to be quite honest, I just recently found out about the difficulty they were having.
They have had several contractors and plumbers from their local area strike out in finding a replacement. That is why they have now asked me for some help. I don't do much kitchen work so I don't have a lot of resources in that area. I appreciate your suggestions and will check with them once I have more information.
This certainly is a unique sink. Hopefully one of the sources you mentioned will be able to help.
Thanks!
Sounds like somebody needs to "remember" that sink. I would go to Maumee Plumbing Supply in Pburg first and ask the guys at the desk. Then ask to see the purchaser (who's not that old, but has worked there quite a while and might just know. The owners = the williams bros might, ask for greg and give him the FHB meet up with a guy story. Mention my name, he's nice.
Then there's Kellermier Plumbing in Haskins. Ask for Dave, long time Family operation-their dad and maybe further. Dave is real nice, his brother Gary equally good. Dave - plumbing, Gary-htg.
I then would go to the Cab suppliers that have been here awhile. I'd suggest Superior, but alas they now are KIS on Central-might be someone that remembers there............
Get me a copy and a picture. The pic would be the best.
Star open now on Central. Call me.A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

Is that all the better you can do?!? Just kidding. You are a wealth of great info. The sink specs are coming my way with a picture. I will give you a call in a week or so and we can have breakfast at the new Star. I have already "inspected" the place and it passed just fine!
Todd
Whoa , whoa , whoa - I was going to give the same info as Cal.
If I'm in the nieghborhood can I come and make sure the new Star is up to par too?
I missed the first hook-up.
I owe Cal a few at Dale's but I'm willing to let that slide for a little "Star"
To keep on topic, pics would be worth a million.- do what I can to find a match up.Remodeling Contractor just on the other side of the Glass City
Or Builder's on Monclova, just around the corner from you.
Bought by Crawford - used to be North Star - sold ALOT to new constr. for a lot of years. The old crew is still there.Remodeling Contractor just on the other side of the Glass City
I neglected to mention them, as I use them on occasion and only know Jeff from the Northstar here in Maumee. I'd certainly think they would be a source worth asking.
thanks.
And yeah, I'm up for a StarFest you bet.
I'm thinking that there's also one out your way, we'll have make this a traveling show. I don't know if I go for that Joe Skaff the owner much, from a slight disagreement the wife and I had while hippies over at the Willows............maybe it was his father. But what the hell, the girls more than make up for any bad taste in the mouth.
And damn, the foods good.
Smitty would be doing rain dances so's there'd be more safety meetings.
Let's get Fred (todd) to set the date.

Cal and Jhole-
Attached is a picture of the sink. I also have a sketch with some dimensions on it.
How about Tuesday or Friday for breakfast at Star on Central. Either day work? Let me know. (and what time you want)
Have you gotten under it with a flashlight and looked REAL, REAL close for any kind of markings?
I have not personally gotten underneath to look but apparently a plumber spent quite a while and could not find anything. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I will get a chance to look at it my self.
Next week looks pretty hectic. Friday might be possible, what time are you thinking?
Man, that's a sink. This isn't going to be easy.
I looked through the couple catalogues I have from Blanco, Kohler but for the life of me-no elkay to found on the shelf. Customers must have it. A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

Now you see the difficulty with the sink! I appreciate you taking the time to look through the catalogs. Certainly didn't intend for you to put a lot of time into it. I was just looking for some guidance from anyone who might have seen one like this before.
As far as Friday. At this point I think I could make it about anytime. Usually the earlier the better.
Alright man, lets do a little ear playing. If the weather cooperates I have some outdoor work to get done. Could play in the chili open on Friday noon if I get the above done. A good breakfest with a view would be the prescribed medicine. So if "if's and buts were candy and nuts"..............
If the rest of the work gets done in a workmanlike manner.....

Sounds good. Hope the weather cooperates. I will wait for your call. (or e-mail).
Is the sink being replaced because of leaks that aren't apparent in your picture? Or is it because of cosmetic reasons. Was pulling it out and sending it to be polished, sanded, or "brushed" and then reinstalling it ever considered? A custom stainless sink fabricator (among others) would have the tools and expertise to make it look new again and might be easier than hunting down a match.
I don't know if they have considered pulling it out and having it polished etc. I just got this info from them and don't have a ton of background. They are out of town for a week so I will get with them when they get back.
I like your idea and that may be the best avenue for them. Thanks.
Even if you find a "curved sink" it may not match your courved countertop's radius. If there was a standard sink like that you would find it at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. Sounds like the countertop was customized to fit the sink.
I have catalogs ( hard & online) for Kohler, Just, Dayton,Franke, & Elkay--- nothing like your pic.
I would send your pic to Elkay & Franke---- I bet they could come up with somethin.
As for the brand Dayton & kohler pretty much never have their name on it. Elkay & Just is always on the top, but after a few years of use it goes away.
When asked why is there four engines on a 747------ "cause we couldn't fit six" a Boeing engineer
Thanks for taking the time to look at the catalogs. I will try some of the manufacturers you suggested. I apprectiate the info!
Are they just concerned with the finish on the old sink? If so, I'd see what it would cost to have it re-chromed. Jim
