Just starting on a curved oak stairway. These pictures are the outside stinger being laminated together. It is 22 feet long.
The other pictures are another maple stairway I am gluing up the curved handrail for it.

This compact detatched accessory dwelling has an efficient layout with a vaulted ceiling that enhances the sense of space.

Stan,
As always, great work.
When you mock up the walls, do you make a second set of plates for the builder so everything is exactly the same?
Chuck S.
This is exactly the question I was just about to ask him.
I was wondering if this stair pattern was constructed first off of architectural plans and then duplicated and given to the builder or if the wall framing was already done in the house and had to be copied to build the stairs???
Stan, If you have to build a set of stairs like this, and the walls are already framed in the house, how do you go about measuring that up and creating a pattern for your stairs??
Second question..approximately how large a shop space is required to set up and build one of the Sparrowhawks?
I design the stairs to meet code...then lay out the plates at the jobsite. Sometimes the walls are already built. This is more trouble for me as they usually are not built with an even curve...or the top landing header is not in the correct relationship with the springline of the stairs.

I'm seeing a good stock tip in these pictures.=CLAMPS
You have allot of clamps.
I will be interested to see the process. I've seen your other work so I'm sure it will finish well.
