Are you talking about the inside jamb material or the casing?
James Hart
sorry both
Joe, we order our jamb wraps from the local millwork shop. The curved casing is also ordered and is molded out of pvc. That is sort of new to the area but it fits great and paints wonderful ( the pvc). You could scribe the casing out of fir or pine and then router a profile onto it but bending the jamb piece is out of our element tool wise. The only time I ever fabricated a jamb arch on site was out of bending plywood. It is strictly paint grade wood. It works well if you have a pattern to follow. If you like I will tell you how I do it.

Layout the arch/circle on a piece of plywood. Screw 2X4 blocks perpendicular to the inside edge of the arc on edge. Cut 8'X necessary jamb width 1/8 ply strips and stagger layer over the blocks and down the legs to the desired jamb heigth. Layer until you get the thickness or strength desired.
If you're making the door, over size the arc about an 1/8. If you're using a manufactured or existing door, undersize your jamb arc about an 1/8. Scribe or sand down for a tight fit.
Never serious, but always right.
