   A regular carbide combo blade works pretty well. This IPE doesn't really chip out that much if you go slow. It is going to be slow anyway. A carbide "plywood" blade is probably better if you really want a clean cut.

   I agree with Greg. Go slow and budget for a few new blades. I put a new blade on my chopsaw  during and after every Ipe job. I hate the stuff.

   Hi there, I use a 60 tooth Diablo blade in my 12" SCMS.  I believe it is an ATB.

   Where are you and where did you get your IPE

   Where are you located and where did you get your Ipe.  It seems hard to find in the Northwest.  Did you custom order it, if so from who and how is the quality.

   I've ordered from Advantage Lumber in Atlanta and gotten good prices and curbside delivery. However, Ipe weighs the same as lead boards so moving it to the deck area is a huge job. We had to unload it board by board from the truck, stack it so the driver could leave then move it again to the back of the house where the deck was going. It was a terrible job and wiped out about half the savings. Recently did another deck with Cumuru from them. Had real quality problems with the material which they offered to make good until it was time to do so at which point I fell over their map.  I'm now in the position of having to repair this deck out of my pocket to the tune of over $1,000.00.

   Buy local and sleep at night.

   I got mine from Shoreline Lumber in Ft Myers. Once I compared prices with online sources and added in shipping they were about the sme and I had the chance to return any defective pieces ... but they were all OK.

   couldnt find a good local price point for Ipe so went with Garapa. Live in September Georgia and found a source in Savanah who had onlly 18 and 20 footers....couldn't believe it. With my layout that left about 4" scrap per board. Deck came out great.

   i agree...buy local with confirmed ability to return junk boards. When you use top quality materials it's not a tine to be penny wise and pound foolish.
