Dealing with Spring Muck

I’m building a small studio Apartment (600sf) on a grade beam-slab on grade foundation. 

I’ve just dug out for my footings and some of the disturbed soil has mixed with the spring melt to make a lovely slime.  How do I go about stabilizing this stuff!  Do I simply add a lot of gravel?  Help!!

          Spring?

          Ain't that one of those 4 season things? Wow, I've heard of that. What's it like?
