I am looking to install a butterfly roof over my existing deck. I am currently trying to design it, but do have some questions/concerns:
The existing deck is 12’x12′ tile and is in an inside corner of the house. Because of this, two sides will be attached to the wall, while two will run down to the column. I am looking to actually make the deck at approx 14’x12′ and installing the column in the ground next to the deck, using a 6″x6″ with 2 or 3 rebar running through the bottom to hold it in the concrete footer that I will be pouring, along with using steel roofing.
1) My house is Cinder block. How should I mount the Ledgers to the house? I was thinking toggle bolts, but wanted to be sure that I am not off track.
2) With the pitch being toward the column, how would you recommend attaching the rafters in the center? My plan is to have the water run off into a barrel to reuse for the garden and such.
3) I am not sure what kind of pitch I should have. I was thinking about having it angled roughly a foot down from the ledger.
I hope this all makes sense. Thank you for any assistance!
