Just finished a deck using Simpson’s clips and they seem to be pretty good for soft wood. I am just about to start a Maghony deck and was thinking of trying something similar. I have a seen a method of using plastic biscuits anybody out there familar with this method.
Thanks Nick

called eby tie, you use a biscuit joiner to cut the slots.
*I put a 800ft^2 IPE deck in last summer using Eby ties. The first 30 or so I put in, I would have sworn that some saddist invented it. After that, I achieved the rhythm that I was looking for. You end up using #7 square drive screws (in SS - very soft), and having to pre-drill the diagonal hole. Helps to have a quick change drill/drive rig. You'll also want to anchorseal the ends of the boards to discourage checking.
*Thanks for the tips. Anyway of using a gun to fire nails rather than pre-drilling and screwing.Nic.
*Nic - click on the search button below and type in (Ironwood deck) there is a series of pictures from start to finish using the Ebty system.Bob
*I installed a huge mahogany deck this summer and be warned the material can be brutal. It desperately wants to cup, twist and crack, we invested a significant amount of time in first washing, drying and then sealing all the boards on all sides (two ends with anchor seal and than the four edges with penofin. All cut ends were then sealed again with anchor seal. We top screwed (after predrilling) with stainless steel, being careful of the layout. Then, immediately after installation we hit it with another coat of penofin. The first summer went well, but I know that deck will need recoating on a regular basis. Forewarned is forearmed, the material is gorgeous but filled with the potential for call back nightmares.
