Deck Construction – Treated Wood and Connectors
Have there been any recent developments in the technology regarding treated wood and galvanized connectors. I know that Simpson has tested Vycor Deck Protector (unavailable through the supply chain where I am). I can get Vycor Plus, which seems to be the same product with a slick surface. Is there some instruction somewhere about how to do that wrap job?
Has anyone considered any other methods for trying to mitigate the corrosion? Painting the connector with some sort of bituminous material? Powder coating? Just paint? Painting the end of the wood with a spray-on rubberized sealant?
In general, if IBC/IRC require re-treatment of cut ends before hanging the joists, that seems like a recipe for corrosion.

They sell screws and connectors for use with the newer treated wood.
