I am living in the Puget Sound area of Washington state. I want to put some kind of oil/stain on a dried out cedar deck. I don’t mind some color but but not too much. I used “Sun Frog” on my deck out in the desert country of eastern Oregon, but there is no local dealer for it here. What has worked or not worked for others?
Thank you for your advice, wise cracks, and sugestions, Jim

I live in Japan where it's alternately hot and humid like Houston, or frigid and snowy like New York. For the last decade or more I've used Xyladecor exclusively on my deck, and feel it is the best concoction for me. Xyladecor is available in clear, but only to be used as an undercoat. It's the colored solids that provide UV protection, so a heavy color actually provides better protection than a thin color.
Edit: I've also got to say, tho, that the Xyladecor sold in the USA is probably not precisely the same formula here in Japan, since it's recommended only for outdoor use here, whereas I can be used indoors in the US. I imagine they reformulate the recipe depending on the environmental laws where they're selling.
