In Mike Guertin’s video on ledger flashing, he removes 2 courses of horizontal siding to install the flashing membrane and sheet metal flashing. In my situation, I am dealing with continuous 8’ vertical T & G siding so there is no way to remove just a foot or so, without sawing it out, which leaves quite an unattractive saw kerf to deal with. The deck ledger is 22’ long. Prying the bottom of the siding out won’t leave enough space to nail the metal flashing and smooth out a membrane. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

you could pull the wall of siding off and put it back or replace it after the deck goes in.
or you could also cut nails that hold the bottom of the siding in with a sawzall from the bottom, to allow enough room to slip the flashing up behind the siding.
This above. The membrane isn't as important as the metal flashing.
