I got some good answers to my last post re: Redwood deck fasteners, but I believe I was not specific enough. I am looking for a general consensus on whether, when I screw down my deck boards, I should set the screws flush with the wood surface, or recess the fasteners, and if so, how deep. I appreciate the suggestions I received about fasteners. Henry

flush , utherwise they will collect water.
Take a board-pre-drill it at different depths-from flush to 1/4 deep.
Put your screws in
Now take that board and look at it and decide for yourself what looks the best.
If you can't decide ask your helper.
If he can't decide ask your customer.
If no one can decide gun it down with 3 1/4" galvanized ringshank nails.
