Are deck spacers really worth it as long as you flash well ? I’m concerned there is a higher risk of water getting in at the screw holes (for the deck spacers) than just having the board flush and sealed against the house

How is a hole from a deck spacer screw any different than a hole from a ledger board screw?
https://deckbracket.com/installation-instructions/ looks like you caulk a slit in the siding after installation, the exposure risk seems low to me.
