Sigh, can anyone tell me…if I apply Behr semi-transparent deck stain to a deck, and then a sudden rainstorm blows up, where it just rains and pours cats and dogs and squirrels and frogs, wil the deck stain still take?
We spent 4hrs today staining the rail/spindles of a deck. We did not do the decking or deck supports because we saw a sudden storm begin to develop and crossed our fingers on the rail/spindles. AFter the storm, 3/4 of our work today seemed to be intact…that is it seemed to have penetrated enough but the surfaces we did manage to stain were quite wet from rain though. Only one section appeared to have actually washed out in the rain, abouit a 6 foot section of rail. The rest of our work appeared to be ok, just soaked from water.
Behr says it’s an oil penetrating formula requiring 24 to 48hrs to dry. They said don’t apply it if rain expected within 24hrs. Well… when a sudden storm blows in you can’t control or predict that.

I know solid color stain will peel if rained on in 24 hours. The transparents soak in better so you may be OK. Is this your house or a customer?
Headstrong, I'll take on anyone!
