I may be building a deck soon for a client. Does anyone have a preference in regard to decking material?
I’m concerned with composite decking because of mold, staining, fading, and ware & tear rubbing off the woodgrain appearance over time)issues.
If I use the standard treated planks then I’m concerned about it’s high maintenace (Staining or sealing), graying, and mold.
I saw the add in Fine Homebuilding for the AZEK Deck (The spilled wine glass picture) that advertises as a no stain, no mold decking. I never seen it in person. I wounder how it looks? Does it last?
Any opinion or preference concerning this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. Have you had much experience with this product? Since it is wood, would it be susceptible to mold?Chief of all sinners.
The stuff has been used on the Atlantic board walk for over forty years and still going strong.http://www.ipe-wood.com/faq.htmlhttp://www.ipedepot.com/
No mold. The trees grow in tropical climates so they have natural biocides in the wood, all through it.Silica and sulfur make it hard on tools or the sinuses, but that is part of what resists the growth of micro-organisms.Yes, I use it. Probably over ten thousand dollars worth in the last three years, maybe 20K total. We used to use clear vertical grain fir but can't get it as good as we used to.The Ipe` is also a good product for "green" designation/marketing. It is harvested in sustainable manner nowdays. These are trees that once had no commercial value because they were so heavy and hard on tools, but modern machinery and tooling overcomes that so instead of transient natives doing slash and burn agriculture and causing pollution and erosion, they are hired to work the commercial ventures of harvesting, milling, and re-planting.

As seen on TOH Austin project, the "Green audit" guy said, "there "is no sustainably(sp) harvested IPE".That said, our last project had about a half acre of IPE 1x8 flooring.
