DeckMaster Grabber compatible with TimberTech Advanced PVC AZEK 1″ straight sided decking?
I’m planning to redo a deck in my new home and am looking at the TimberTech Advanced PVC AZEK (Vintage Line) decking. I built a large Mahogany deck years ago on a different house using the DeckMaster Grabber fastener system. I loved the results from that; seeing no fasters from above really made this deck look beautiful. Now I’m looking to repeat the results but without the maintenance of real wood and I like the TimberTech Advanced PVC line. I’m not so keen on the fastening systems that that offer though and would prefer to use the DeckMaster product. I’m trying to determine if there are any compatibility issues with using the DeckMaster Grabber red box (for smaller board thickness) with the TimberTech product. The TimberDeck PVC decking is 1″ thick, so from that standpoint I think it should work with the red box fasteners. The DeckMaster compatibility sheet lists compatibility for some TimberTech decking and incompatibility with other TimberTech decking, but the TimberTech Advanced PVC product isn’t listed on their sheet at all (one way or the other). I have a question out to them on this but while I wait for that I thought I would see if this group has any experience with this combination and whether there are any concerns that I should have going this route. Thank you for your collective wisdom!
Cheers,
-Brad

I have only used the Azek for my decks, bridges, etc. I use the Camo screw system. You can see the screws if you look really close, but for the most part they are not visible. Their significant advantage is you can remove a damaged board if you need to without disturbing other boards. I had a customer who had some painting done and painters used Goof off to remove some paint spills. (it also removes part of the Azek) I was able to replace boards with same color and after two years there was no difference between old and new.
Thank you for the suggestion bing0328. This definitely looks like a nice product. I'm still waiting to hear back from DeckMaster on whether their product is compatible, but I think I may give it a try on a smaller staircase and landing that I have then have the Camo system as an alternate if this doesn't work out. I like the DeckMaster solution of not having the screws show at all from the top, though it is more labor intensive to install.
